What are correlations?
An analysis of the relationship between co-variables
What are strengths of correlations?
Allows researchers to investigate situations that could not be done experimentally
Correlations do not just indicate a relationship but the strength of the relationship
What are weaknesses of correlations?
They are seriously affected by sample size
Correlations cannot reliably establish cause and effect
They only work for linear relationships
What is a positive correlation?
As one variable increases, the other does too
What is a negative correlation?
As one variable increases, the other decreases
What is a curvilinear correlation?
When there is both a positive and negative relationship between the two variables creating a curve
What is zero correlation?
There is no clear relationship between variables
What do you draw once you have drawn a correlation graph on a scatter graph?
Line of best fit
