Pearsons R test Flashcards
When is Pearson’s R test used?
When a relationship is predicted between two sets of data, the data is normal distributed, the data is interval/ratio data and the pairs of scores from repeated measures or matched pairs design
How do you calculate the degrees of freedom Pearsons R?
N (in sample) - 2
What do you do once you have a Pearsons R value?
Look at the critical values table to see if the results are significant at the p=0.05 at whether your hyp is one tailed or two tailed at the calculated degree of freedom
What does the calculated value of R need to be in order for the results to be significant in Pearsons R ?
Equal to or greater than the critical value
What conclusions can you draw if the calculated value at R at the degree of freedom is smaller than the critical value in Pearsons R?
There is no statical significant difference
Accept the null hypothesis
Reject the alternative hypothesis
What conclusions can you draw if the calculated value at R at the degree of freedom is greater than the critical value in Pearsons R?
There is a statistically significant difference
Reject the null hypothesis
Accept the alternative hypothesis
