Why is it important to protect old/historical building?

In my opinion I guess I would have to say that there are a number of factors/reasons involved. The main basis is probably because + They have historical values. Many of the buildings had become the witnesses of some special moments of a particular country, therefore it should be preserved. + At the same time, a subsequent factor could be because + historical building can become one of the tourist destination places.
