Q

How have humans had an affect on biodiversity?

A
  • We learnt to use our environment to our advantage
  • We alter ecosystem to provide ourselves with food
  • We destroy and fragment habitats
  • We are using up Earths resources
  • We pollute the atmosphere

Q

How has agriculture affected biodiversity when we find fields to plant in?

A

As we clear out the area for our farming we destroy habitats and decrease biodiversity by reducing the size of habitats and the population size of any wild species living in those habitats. This can cause them to have a smaller environment to adapt to or be isolated

Q

How can monocultures affect biodiversity?

A

It limits the crops genetic diversity because of selective breeding but makes it more easier to harvest and can increase the crop yield of the crop.

Q

How can selective breeding affect biodiversity?

A

It limits the crops genetic diversity to control one aspect of the crop, so that it may die out

Q

How does climate change affect biodiversity?

A

As the climate changes some habitats are being destroyed or decreased so the species migrate to try to get to a place where they are more suited.

Q

Why are domestic plants and animals more at risk?

A

They have been bred for specific condition and attributes that cause a lack of variation so they are unable to adapt to the changing in their environment,
