Differences. For example hair colour, nose shape, height ect… This is called variation.
What are the two types of variation?
Genetic and enviromental
What causes genetic variation?
Different genes, all plants and animals have characteristics similar to their parents
How is an organisms characteristics determined?
By its genes inherited from their parents.
Most animals get some from the mother and some from the father.
What is the combining of genes from the two parents called
Genetic variation
Some characteristics are only determined by
Only genes. For example violet flower colour. In animals it can be eye colour, blood group and inherited disorders such as cystic fibrosis.
What are also influenced by….
The environment.
For example in a plant they can get yellow leaves from growing in darkness.
Or in humans a suntan
