Validity Flashcards
What is meant by the term validity ?
Does the research set out to measure what it was meant to measure. How trustworthy something is (procedure)
What is Internal Validity ?
To look how behaviour was defined and measured within the study.
What is external validity ?
Looks at factors outside the study and where we can generalise the findings of behaviour outside the study.
What is face validity (internal) ?
Does it look like it will measure what it is supposed to measure.
What is construct validity (internal) ?
Do measure relate to the assumed characteristics of what is assessed.
What is concurrent validity (internal) ?
When a test correlates well with measure that has previously been validated.
What is criterion validity (internal) ?
The extent to which a measure can predict the performance of behaviour of a measured thing.
What is ecological validity (external) ?
Whether the study reflects those of real life situations. Study can be low, high or mundane realism.
What is population validity (external) ?
