Why is report writing important ?
Used to show findings of important research.
Allows readers to examine all components of lab experiment and detail of material used.
Abstract in report writing
Summary of entire investigation you have conducted. Not long piece and written at last stage of report writing.
Can include: aim, hypothesis, design, results, conclusions.
Introduction in report writing
Contains relevant background theory and studies, which are written in a logical manner to put aim and hypothesis into context.
Method in report writing
DAPP = Design, apparatus, pots and procedure
Results in report writing
Descriptive statistics= summarised account or data collect ( not raw scores) + central tendency
Inferential statistics = use correct test to analyse your data. Find type of data and experimental designs.

Discussion in report writing
Where you provide explanation of your results, link back comparing studies mentioned, highlighting weakness and any modification. Finally present overall conclusion.
Referencing in report writing
Academic convention to acknowledge researchers in your work and their theories, studies or models.
Why is referencing important ?
To thank author for using their research to help your research.
Harvard referencing
1) include authors names
2) include dates in brackets
3) include title of the book
4) include publisher, location, edition and page numbers.
Appendicites in report writing
Consent form, standardised instructions, ethics sheet, materials, raw data and statistical analysis.
