a successful vaccine should..
have few side effects
be suited to store and transport without being damaged
be economical
be able to be administered properly by having qualified staff available
produce herd immunity
what is herd immunity
form of immunity that occurs when the vaccination of a large group of the population provides a measure of protection for individuals who have not been immunised
positives of herd immunity
stops the spread of disease
effective as it is never possible top vaccinate 100% of the population
negative effects of herd immunity
to be effective , vaccines should be carried out in a single time period
when immunisation decreases, herd immunity can fail leading to a rise in new cases
