Using and Interpreting graphs Flashcards
What can have a meaning on a graph?
The gradient, the value of y or the area under the graph.
On a displacement vs time graph, what is the gradient?
The velocity
On a velocity vs time graph, what is the gradient?
The acceleration
On a velocity vs time graph, what is the area under the curve?
The displacement
On a curve, what happens to the gradient?
It changes.
What is a tangent line?
A line that touches the curve exactly once. It can find a precise gradient on a single point.
What is an instantaneous gradient?
A gradient at a single point as opposed to a gradient between two points.
How can you estimate the area under a curve?
You can draw rectangles or trapeziums to discover an approximate value for the area.
