Urethra
A narrow tube that passes urine from the bladder to the external environment.
What are the functions of the Urinary System?
- Filters fluids from the blood to regulate fluid volume, blood pressure, and electrolyte and PH levels.
- Eliminates liquid waste through the excretion of urine.
- Secretes hormones
Clinical Connection of the Urinary System
- Massage can positively enhance the functions of the urinary system.
- Massage of the abdomen can also benefit the urinary system.
- Since the kidneys are located somewhat superficially, bodyworker therapists must use caution applying force just below the 12th rib.
