upper limb Flashcards
landmarks of pectoral girdle
- clavicle
- acromion
- ac joint
- coracoid process
- head of humorous
- lesser tubercle
- greater tubercle
- scapula
- glenoid cavity
clavicle
sternal end: articulates with manubrium of sternum
acromial end: articulates with acromium at ac joint
scapula
infra spinous fossa : larger than supraspinous fossa
supraspinous fossa : big plates of scapula
acromion
coracoid process
infraglenoid tubercle
supraglenoid tubercle
humerous
Anterior Inferior landmarks: RCCT
Randy Corrects Caper Trying ME
Radial fossa, coronoid fossa, capitulum, trochea, medial epicondyle
posterior inferior landmarks : ME OTLE
Me & Ollie tip LE
medial epicondyle, olecranon fossa, trochea, lateral epicondyle
greater tubercle
lesser tuberle
inter tubercular sulcus (bicipital groove)
deltoid tuberosity
radial fossa : located above the capitulum
radial groove (for radial nerve, spiral groove)
coronoid fossa : located above the trochlea
capitulum : articulation with head of radius
medial epicondyle
lateral epicondyle
trochea: articulation with the throcheal notch of ulna
olecranon fossa
axilla
- armpit
- wedged in between clavicle, humorous and 1st rib
- filled with blood vessels and nerves, no bones
arteries (lecture 9)
- *arch of aorta**: behind sternum
- *Brachiocephalic trunk**: only on right side, only exists briefly, the become :
- *right and left common carotid arteries**
- *vertebral artery**: goes to supply head
- *subclavian artery**: passes behind/is protected by clavicle, passes by 1st rib and then becomes:
- *axillary artery :** has section 1,2 and 3. number corresponds to how many branches coming off them
- *brachial artery**: carries blood to arm, become radial and ulnar arteries
check lecture 9 for red box*
deep veins of upper limb
- Exact mirror of the arteries
- Veins connecting blood that lost its oxygen and sends back to heart
- Have the same names as arteries
- Usually have two veins on each side of the arteries, sometimes 3
superficial veins of upper limb
cephalic vein of arm : closer to thumb side (anatomical position)
basilic vein of arm: comes up inside of arm
both of these veins dump into the axillary
median cubital vein
cephalic vein of forearm
basilic vein of forearm
superficial venous drainage
- just beneath the surface of skin
- channel blood from cutaneous tissues to deep veins via perforations in the deep fascia
- deep veins share routes with arteries, and many are enclosed in the same sheaths
profunda brachi
- first and largest branch of the brachial artery
- deep artery of arm
deep palmar arch vs superior palmar arch
deep palmar arch :
- formed by radial artery
- joined to a branch of the ulnar artery
- supplies deep muscles of hand, thumb and index finger
superior palmar arch :
-formed by ulnar artery
-joined to branch of radial artery
