- C5-T1 anterior rami, called roots, come together connecting into spinal cord
- then they become trunks, just superior to clavicle, then splits into a posterior and anterior division
- then they become cords, posterior cord gets all 3 posterior division, lateral cord gets anterior divisions from sup and middle trunks, medial cord gets anterior division from inferior trunk
- lateral cord becomes musculocutaneous and median nerve
- posterior cord becomes axillary and radial nerve
- medial cord becomes ulnar and median nerve
