nerves and arteries of arm Flashcards
1
Q
brachial artery
A
- provides the main arterial supply to the arm and is the continuation of the axillary artery
- begins at the inferior border of the teres major and ends in the cubital fossa (under cover of the bicipital aponeurosis)
- then divides into the radial and ulnar arteries
2
Q
axillary nerve
A
supplies deltoid and terres minor
3
Q
radial nerve
A
- descends inferolaterally with the profounda brachii artery and curves around the humeral shaft in the radial groove
- supplies the muscles in the posterior compartments of the arm and forearm and the overlying skin
3
Q
profunda brachii artery
A
descends with radial nerve
4
Q
medial inter muscular septum
lateral inter muscular septum
A
5
Q
see lecture 13 for elbow joint and bones
A
6
Q
Concentric, Eccentric and Isometric
A
- *Concentric** : when muscles contract, upwards motion in a curl
- *Eccentric** : when muscles lengthen, downwards motion in a curl
- *Isometric** : no movement, muscle does not change length, good for maintaining muscle not necessary building
7
Q
Agonist, Antagonist and Synergist
A
An Agonist is the muscle that is contracting, the Antagonist Is the muscle that is able to relax/lengthen
Synergists are muscles that work together to create a movement :
ex: Illiacus, posts major and rectus femoris work together to flex the hip joint
