Unit 5 Flashcards
A motivating operation that decreases the reinforcing effectiveness of a stimulus, object, or event.
Abolishing operation
A plan of things to be done or problems to be addressed.
Agenda
The science in which tactics derived from the principles of behavior are applied to improve socially significant behavior, and experimentation is used to identify the variables responsible for the improvement of behavior.
ABA
A verbal behavior that modifies the functions of other verbal behaviors.
Autoclitic relation
Punishment that occurs independent of the social mediation by others (that is, a response product that serves as a punisher independent of the social environment).
Automatic punishment
Reinforcement that occurs independent of the social mediation of others (for example, scratching an insect bite relieves the itch).
Automatic reinforcement
The analysis, interventions, and treatments provided by ABA professionals, such as behavioral assessments, data analysis, writing and revising of treatment plans, training, and implementation of treatment plans.
Behavior analytic services
A procedure consisting of instructions, modeling, behavioral rehearsal, and feedback that is used to teach new behaviors or skills.
Behavior skills training
The analysis and modification of work environments to reduce injuries and promote safe behavior for workers.
Behavior-based safety
A leadership style that emphasizes vision, a task analysis, obvious enthusiasm, and generous amounts of contingent reinforcement.
Coach-as-leader model
The action of assigning or entrusting others with tasks that need to be completed.
Delegating
A motivating operation that increases the effectiveness of some stimulus, object, or event as a reinforcer.
Establishing operation
A type of practice that is supported by a solid research base.
Evidence-based practice
A situation that occurs when the controlling antecedent stimulus and the response or response product (a) share the same sense mode (that is, both stimulus and response are visual, auditory, or tactile) and (b) physically resemble each other.
Formal similarity
Sharing information about clients in a manner that seems innocent, but is actually a breach of confidentiality.
