Unit 5: Concept 2 - Complex Inheritance Patterns Flashcards
What is the chromosome theory of inheritence?
genes located on chromosomes and behavior result in inheritance patterns
What is incomplete dominance?
between 2 homozygous phenotypes, nothing is completely dominant/recessive
What is codominance?
both traits are fully expressed
What are the 3 allele blood types?
A, B, i
AB=
A=
B=
O=
AB, AA/Ai, BB/Bi, ii
What are multiple alleles?
having 2 alleles for 1 gene
What is polygenic inheritance?
trait produced by 2+ genes
What are linked genes?
genes physically located on same chromosomes
What are sex-linked traits?
males/females have same pairs
Sex Cells:
Male=
Female=
XY, XX
What are X-linked genes?
normal principle of dominance occurs
What are sex-linked genes?
genes on sex chromosomes
What is a carrier?
carrier recessive traits but doesn’t show them
