Unit 3 Sci Concepts lesson 1 Flashcards
How do non vascular plants eat?
They suck up water and minerals like a sponge
What is the structure of a non vascular plant?
Roots keep it anchored to the ground they have no leaves or stems instead they have a stock with leaf like structures growing.
What is a structure of a vascular plant?
It’s a system of tubes that carries water and nutrients through the plant. It has roots stems and leaves. The roots anchor the plant to the ground and The stems support the leaves which make food for the plants.
What are two types of roots?
Fibrous roots and tap roots
What are the tubes in leaves called and what do they do?
They are small tubes that carry food made by the leaves do the flower stems and roots they also carry water and minerals.
What can support a plant?
Stems and water pressure in the veins
What is photosynthesis?
How plants use energy from the sun to change carbon dioxide and water into Sugar and oxygen
Where does photosynthesis take place?
Takes place in leaves of a plant.
How do plants use carbon dioxide? And what do they give off?
Plants get it from the air and use it for photosynthesis. And give off oxygen.
How do oxygen and carbon dioxide move into and out of the plant?
The two gases move in and out through small openings of the leaves
