Outer ear
The part of the ear that traps sound waves and channels them to the middle ear
Pinna
The fleshy outside part of the ear
Auditory Canal
The canal in the outer ear that waves travel down. The eardrum is at the end of it
Eardrum
A membrane that vibrates when sound hits it
Middle ear
The part of the ear that transmits the eardrums vibrations through three tiny bonds, the anvil, stirrup, and hammer
Inner ear
Contains the cochlea,semicircular canals, and vestibular sacs. Where transduction happens
Basilar membrane
A membrane inside the cochlea which vibrates in response to sound and whose vibrations lead to the creation of neural impulses
Auditory nerve
Nerve that sends sound impulses to the temporal lobe
