What is nondisjunction?
when a pair of homologous chromosomes or sister chromotids don’t properly seperate
What is trisomy?
when there is an extra copy of a chromosome - three instead of two
What is monosomy?
when there is a missing chromosome - one instead of two
What are sex chromosomes?
the chromosomes that determine the sex of the person
What are autosomes?
the chromosomes besides the sex chromosomes
What is a barr body?
a condensed and inactivated X chromosome
What is deletion?
when a section of a chromosome is missing or deleted
What is duplication?
when an extra copy of a section of a chromosome is present
What is inversion?
when a section of a chromosome is flipped / reversed
What is translocation?
when a section of one chromosome breaks off and attaches onto another chromosome
