What are the 3 types of marriages?
- Love marriage
- Arranged marriage
- Temporary unannounced marriage
What is a love marriage?
When two people decide to get married to each other because they love each other
What is an arranged marriage?
A marriage of two people organised by the families involved. No one is forced to marry but the match is based on family, reputation and morals rather than love.
What is a temporary unannounced marriage?
This is preformed by Muslims- specifically shias. This is a marriage with a time limit to test out the marriage. The time limit is written on the Nikah contract.
What is interfaith marriage?
This is when two people from different faiths get married; for example a Christian and a Muslim.
Christian views on marriage- Does the Orthodox Church allow interfaith marriage?
The Orthodox Church does not allow this- if you do marry someone from outside your faith you are not allowed to receive communion anymore.

The Catholic Church will allow this but only if the non-catholic partner agrees that the children will be raised Catholic.

The Church of England supports interfaith marriage and will offer blessings to interfaith couples if they don’t want a Christian wedding.

Although they are strongly discouraged some Muslims allow this but men are only allowed to marry Jewish or Christian women.

Any children from an interfaith marriage must be raised Muslim

Yes! In fact she should be supported to do so by the Muslim husband
