Natural Phenomena

Ex: tornadoes, tsunamis
Dynamic
Changes in a system all the time in reaction to a stimulus.
Ex: volcanic eruptions from geothermal pressure
Boundaries
Sets of rules that say what is and isn’t part of the system being studied
Input
something put into a system that causes change
Output
a result of input into a system
Ex: human shivering to increase temperature when it is cold
Function
the job or purpose of an object or part of a system
Ex: the purpose of a bird’s wings (flight)
Conceptual Models
a diagram or picture of a system that helps explain complicated or abstract systems or processes.
Conservation of Energy
Energy is neither creater nor destroyed but can be transferred and transformed.
Part of every system on Earth, including weather, plate tectonics, and plant growth
