Q

PPIs

A

Proton pump inhibitors inhibit proton pumps in parietal cells (first enter cell and close pump from the inside). Decreased intrinsic factor leads to a decreased vitB12 absorption. Leads to G cell hypertrophy, D cell atrophy and ECL cell hypertrophy, sudden stopping of treatment may result in acid over-secretion.
