Diuretics Flashcards
CA inhibitors
Inhibit CA stopping HCO3 production and inhibiting Na absorption, lead to the loss of pH regulation.
Osmotic Diuretics
Mannitol can be excretes but not reabsorbed, osmotic activity increases diuresis.
Loop Diuretics
Inhibit NKCC2 channel (Na, Cl, K). Most potent diuretic, used to treat hypertension and edema.
Thiazide Diuretics
Inhibit NKC channel (Na, K, Cl, Ca), relaxes resistance vessels after a week or two.
K+ Saving Diuretics
Amilioride inhibits ENaC channel
Spironolactone inhibits the aldosterone receptor.
ADH antagonists
V2 stops the translocation if AQP2 in the collecting ducts. V1 inhibition causes vasodilation.
Aldosterone analogues
A1 inhibition leads to disabling of TGF
A2 stimulation causes afferent arteriole vasodilation.
