Trigger - IHD 3 Flashcards
can be induced by cold, stress or medication
prinzmetal angina
typically occurs early in the morning and awakens patients from sleep
prinzmetal angina
what is the term for pericarditis that occurs 1-12 weeks post MI or CABG
dresslers syndrome
treated with IV saline, inotropic agents if necessary. AVOID nitrates and morphine
RV infarction
associated with elderly patients, poor collateral circulation, ischemic preconditioning and first MI
ventricular free wall rupture
(MC in the anterior or lateral wall of the LV)
presents as pericardial effusion or pulseless electrical activity
ventricular free-wall rupture
MORTALITY RATE EXTRWEMELY HIGH
what is associated with a transmural MI involving the septum
Post MI ventricular septal defect. rare but fatal complication occuring a few days following initial cardiac event.
MORTALITY RATE HIGH W/O surgery!!!!
presents as sudden onset 2-7 days post MI, involves papillary muscle
MV regurg from ruptured papillary muscle
mortailty rate high w/o surgical intervention
what activities should you ALWAYS ADDRESS in post MI discharge instructions
permission/avoidance of driving, returning to work and sexual activity!
Pt presents with hypotension, elevated venous pressure and clear lungs. They recently sufffered an inferior wall MI. What should you be concerned for?
RV infarction
what are effects of cardiac blues on the body
- increased stress hormone levels
- increased glucose and lipid levels
- increased tendency of blood to clot
- increased inflammatory cytokine levels.
also see: cigarrette smoking, med noncompliance, less physical activity
Can occur 1-4 days post-MI, but most commonly w/in 24 hours
ventricular free wall rupture
who is at intermediate-to high-risk of heart-related problems during sex
Presents with CHest pain and fever
dresslers syndrome
