A
superior nuchal line of occipital bone, nuchal ligament and spines of all thoracis vertebrae

A
spine of scapula and acromion, lateral portion of clavicle

cranial nerve XI – the spinal accessory nerve

trapezius function
A
elevates, retracts and superiorly rotates scapula to face the glenoid cavity skyward (needed for full abduction of the arm to occur); the trapezius can also depress the scapula (when just the inferior fibers are used)

A
