the 12 thoracic vertebrae. some extrinsic as well as intrinsic muscles insert onto ribs

no. it is connected to the vertebral column by extrinsic back muscles.

where is the medial border of the scapula? superior angle? inferior angle?
A
medial border is closest to the edge of the vertebral column, bet. T2 and T7. superior at T2. inferior at T7.

What is the acromion? where is it?
A
the acromion is the palpable endpoint of the shoulder. lateral extension of the spine of the scapula.

what is coracoid process? where is it?
A
small knob of bone at top of scapula. faces anterior. right under acromion.
