it covers the spinal ganglia before blending with the epineural connective tissue layer that inverts peripheral nerves.

filum terminale interna and externa
A
interna: pia mater covers conus medullaris and tapers into a string which continues as teh filum terminale interna or the internal terminal filum. part of cauda equina.
externa: at inferior ending of dural sac S2, filum terminale picks up a dural covering and is then called filum terminale externa (so it has a dura coverign)

where does filum terminale externa end up?
A
continues to the sacral hiatus level where it anchors to bone.
