Once the RPO has activated the switch to the lockout, what must TC do?
- Ensure that the work zone(s) requested are clear of all rail movements.
- Ensure that signals are in the STOP position before sending a release control for lockout to occur and advise duration of occupation granted.
Once the RPO has ensured the lockout indicator has turned a steady red and attached their padlock to the switch, what must TC do?
- Must ensure that the lockout indication for the required lockout zone box(s) has changed has changed to a solid purple box on the signal panel.
What is the RPO responsible for within the Lockout Zone?
- The RPO is responsible for all personnel and equipment working within the lockout zone.
What must TC do when a train is required to pass through a protected lockout zone?
- Observe that the lockout indication is showing in the normal position (blue).
- Signal the train movement.
When passing lockout signals at stop, what rule would you refer to when the lockout switch is in the normal position?
- Refer to Rule 93
TC must not authorise the passing of Lockout signals at stop except when?
- Permission has been obtained from the RPO.
What must TC do when rail vehicles are required to enter the protected work area?
- Must obtain permission from the RPO.
- Once the RPO has granted permission, TC will verbally authorise the movement to enter the PWA.
What must TC do when the protected work has been completed?
- Must ensure that the signal lockout indication is normal.
When planning protection arrangements, what must be considered?
- Lockout zones only control the signals, they do not prevent motorised points from being moved.
- Additional procedure for securing the points should be applied;
- Blocking by TC or
- Using the process set out in Task Instruction S-TI-PM-2218 - Security of Turnouts
