When would you apply protection by blocking?
Track occupations within Automatic Signalling areas and Interlocked Stations (including TWC interlocked stations)
What is the enquiry process (in order) ?
- Identity
- Type of protection required
- On tracking * (at location)
- In Multi-line area, state lines being occupied or obstructed
- Occupation area including off tracking location *
- Time required for the work
- Nature of work
What must be given to TC when positively identifying location and why?
The locations/station name/signals on either side to enable the exact location of the metrage to be positively identified
e.g. 470km between Te Kuiti and Puketutu;
76.32km between 4R and 4LA signals at Chertsey
What pre-authorisation checks must be completed by TC/Signaller?
- Ensure the proposed occupancy will not conflict with rail movements
- Verify location of conflicting movements
- Ensure last train is clear of on tracking location
- Record details of the occupancy on the graph or the form provided
- Apply blocking
Before authorising the occupancy, what must be established when Signaller is providing the blocking?
TC must receive confirmation from Signaller that blocking is applied to protect the occupancy
What is the authorisation process (as per the Verbatim) ?
- Addressee
- At/On tracking location
- Commencement time
- Clear by time
- Track - Single/Up/Down/Both
- Limits - Proceed/Work between/at
- Blocking
Once instructions have been read back to TC/Signaller, they will do what?
Verify or correct the instructions
