Answer 1

• Take action to stop any approaching trains from entering the obstructed section

In Automatic Signalling Areas

• Protect the obstructed section by arranging for blocking to be applied
• When a qualified person is available, issue either;
• Mis60 Track and Time Permit (Rule 24) or
• Mis71 Track Occupancy Cross Check (Rule 908)

What must TC do when an approaching train has entered the obstructed section?

Answer 2

• Communicate with the train and request that it be stopped or
• If unable to contact the train, the person in charge of the emergency protection is to be advised the direction the train is coming from and instructed to immediately provide emergency protection as described in 904 (b)
