What medication should be given for VT refractory to sodium bicarb?

A

Lidocaine:
1 to 1.5 mg/Kilogram every 3-5 minutes.

Infusion should be 1 mg greater than the milligram per kilogram amount given in the bolus. And that amount should be given per minute.

Additional bolus of lidocaine should be given at 5-10 minutes.

Aggressive use of vasopressors should be initiated if hypotension ensues.

This may be effective in low degree heart blocks, but will definitely not be effective and high degree heart blocks.
