General cardiology Flashcards
What is the normal width of a QRS complex?
.12 or less
What is the normal width of a PR interval?
.12-.20
What are defining traits of Mobitz type one or winkybach heart block?
Possibly irregular R-R intervals, lengthening PR intervals, and regular dropped QRS complexes.
What are the finding traits of Mobitz type two heart block?
Regular R-R intervals with irregularly dropped QRS complexes
What are defining characteristics of right bundle branch blocks? And what kind of right bundle branch block indicate?
QRS complex greater than .12 seconds.
V1 – V3 may have rabbit ears.
V6, I, and avL have slurred/wide S wave.
Heart defects, MI, myocarditis, pulmonary embolism, uncontrolled hypertension.
What is the appearance of a left bundle branch block?
It creates a W shape in I, V5, V6 which means the original deflection is downward, with a subsequent small rise and another even deeper deflection down words.
What does left bundle branch block indicate?
Underlying heart disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, High blood pressure, aortic valve disease, or coronary artery disease.
What are contraindications for aspirin administration for patients with chest pain?
Hypersensitivity, recent G.I. bleed, under 18 years of age
What is the dose for nitroglycerin?
What are its contraindications?
.4 mg
Blood pressure less than 100 systolic
Use of Viagra in the last 24 hours
Extreme caution in suspected right sided MI
Paste is .5–1.5 inches. Should be wiped off if hypotension develops.
What are clinical science suggestive of a STEMI?
Greater than 2 mm of elevation for men in leads V2-V3
Greater than 1.5 mm of elevation for women in leads V2-V3
Greater than 1 mm of elevation in limb leads.
New or presumed new left bundle branch block
ST depression in greater than two precordial leads
For right sided EKG: if there is approximately 1/3 the elevation of the QRS after the J point in V4R or to contiguous leads.
