What are the criteria for requesting air ambulance?
High speed motor vehicle accident, ejection from the vehicle, prolonged extrication, intrusion of greater than 12 inches into passenger compartment, fall from greater than two times the patient’s height, or fatality within the same vehicle.
How should someone approach and air ambulance?
From the front or downhill side, never from the uphill side or the rear!
What are ABCDE of EMS assessments?
Airway, breathing, circulation, disability, and exposure.
What should be done immediately after the ABC DE assessment?
Rapid head to toe assessment! Unless the patient is conscious, alert, and oriented. Then do a focused assessment on the patient’s complaints.
What should I do at the end when discussing what I think was wrong with the patient?
Discuss what I think was wrong, but then also supply further information on why I think what I think, and explain pertinent negatives.
