Stress incontinence
- abdominal pressure on bladder increases and the pelvic floor cant counter pressure to stop urine leaking (coughing, laughing)

Urge incontinence
- detrusor muscle contracts instead of relaxing as bladder fills

Functional incontinence
- factors outside the urinary tract
