Topic 3.1: Conceptual modelling Flashcards
conceptual modelling
a model that exists in the mind used to help us know and understand ideas
design cycle
the design process represents a collection of steps that a designer can follow to achieve a workable solution
Modelling
the working through ideas or hypothesis by using sketching techniques to draw graphical modelling or manipulating materials to construct physical models
Types of models
Graphical, physical virtual
Conceptual modelling adv and disadv
ADV: shares big picture, easy for non designers to understand, used to communicate between clients and users, gauges people’s reaction to ideas
DISADV: lack of detail, can be misinterpreted/misleading, materials may not reflect final choice of materials, too simple (might exclude vital elements of design)
