Ligaments inside the stifle joint
- Lig.transversum genus
- Lig.meniscotibiales: Lig.craniale menisci laterale and -mediale, Lig.caudale laterale and -mediale
- Lig.cruciatum craniale
- Lig.cruciatum caudale
- Lig.meniscofemorale
- Lig.popliteum obliquum
Ligaments outside the stifle joint
5 ligaments
- Retinaculum patellae
- Lig.patellae
- Lig.collaterale laterale
- Lig.collaterale mediale
- Lig.femoropatellare laterale
- Lig.femoropatellare mediale
Retinaculum patellae
From fascia latae and aponeurosis om muscles, covers stifle
Lig.patellae
Continuation of tendon from m.quadriceps femoris. The patella is a sesamoid bone in the tendon, before the ligament inserts on tub.tibiae
Lig.collaterale laterale
From laterale epicondyle of femur to caput fibulare and a lesser part to the lateral condyle of tibia. Underneath there is the tendon om m.popliteus.
Lig.collaterale mediale
From medial epicondyle of femur to medial condyle of tibia and a strong attachment to the medial meniscus.
Lig.femoropatellare laterale
From lateral Vesalius (sesamoid) bone to patella and also to the lateral epicondyle of femur. Reinforcment of joint´s capsule.
Lig.femoropatellare mediale
From medial Vesalius (sesamoid) bone to patellae, and also to the medial epicondyle of femur. Reinforcment of joint´s capsule.
Corpus adiposum infrapatellare
Fatty tissue under the lig.patellare
Bursa infrapatellaris
Under lig.patellare at tub.tibiae
Recessus suprapatellaris
Behind and above patella
Recessus subextensorius
Around tendon of m.ext.dig.longus
Recessus subpopliteus
Around tendon of m.popliteus
Meniscus laterale
Fibrocartilage between femur and tibia
