The law of effect
used puzzle box experiments to demonstrate-states that behaviors that are followed by satisfying outcomes are stamped in, followed by no outcome or negative outcome are extinguished
Puzzle box experiments
place hungry cat in puzzle box, door can be lifted by pressing lever….placed fish outside of puzzle box out of reach.How does cat behave? At first at random…accidentally pressing lever, door opened and could escape and be rewarded. After reinforced behaviors got more efficient at escaping box. After series of being reinforced with reward took less tim to push lever.
Stamping in
behavior becomes ingrained neural response after reinforced and rewarded

can animals learn through insight? Learning does not involve insight…noticed there is a learning curve

is awareness of connections needed?
Awareness of these connections are not needed for learning to occur, learning happens outside of conscious awareness
