1
Q

The law of effect

A

used puzzle box experiments to demonstrate-states that behaviors that are followed by satisfying outcomes are stamped in, followed by no outcome or negative outcome are extinguished

Q

Puzzle box experiments

A

place hungry cat in puzzle box, door can be lifted by pressing lever….placed fish outside of puzzle box out of reach. How does cat behave? At first at random…accidentally pressing lever, door opened and could escape and be rewarded. After reinforced behaviors got more efficient at escaping box. After series of being reinforced with reward took less tim to push lever.

Q

Insight?

A

can animals learn through insight? Learning does not involve insight…noticed there is a learning curve

learning curve

A

slowly increasing efficiency of behavior, erroneous behaviors stamped out and efficient behaviors stamped in

Q

law of readiness

A

organism must be ready to receive reward for learning to occur, if cats not hungry then food wont produce learning

Q

Tabula rasa

A

at birth born as blank slate→ and connections made through environmental interactions produce learning and learning is expressed in behavior

Q

is awareness of connections needed?

A

Awareness of these connections are not needed for learning to occur, learning happens outside of conscious awareness
