bandura- self efficacy Flashcards
Modeling/vicarious learning
bobo doll-After watching an adult model behave aggressively, children were more likely to act aggressively. People can learn by modeling behaviors of others-if observe someone else being rewarded for behavior they are more likely to behave that way themselves. Showed that ppl can learn by observing the behaviors of others.
what else impacted prob of aggression
Reinforcement and punishment of the model
The basis for motivation-rooted in two types of beliefs
contingency beliefs and self-efficacy beliefs
contingency beliefs
the desired outcome is dependent on one’s behavior, and basis for motivation, not enough to simply believe that behavior can yield desirable outcomes
self-efficacy beliefs
belief that one can perform the behaviors necessary to obtain desired outcomes
Triadic reciprocal determinism
not only environment that controls behavior rather there is a reciprocal causal arrow between person, behavior and environment
Associated therapy
therapist must foster knowledge of behaviors that lead to desired outcomes, first contingency beliefs then self efficacy belief (belief that he or she can perform), optimal challenges(a bit beyond our current skill-stretch us psychologically)are key to maintenance and enhancement of wellbeing
