Q

Why did they think this?

A
  • If you do two things at the same time and they are both visual tasks, you perform them less well than if you do them separately
  • If you do two things at the same time and one is visual whereas the other involves sound, then there is no interference. You do them simultaneouly as you would do them separately

Q

What is the function of the central executive?

A

Direct attention to particular tasks, determining at any time how the brain’s ‘resources’ are allocated to tasks

Q

What does the phonological loop do?

A

Deals with auditory information and preserves the order of information

7
Q

What did Baddeley ( 1986) further subdivide the phonological loop into?

A
  • Phonological store ( holds words you hear)

- Articulatory process- used in words that are heard or seen

Q

What did Logie (1995) suggest the visuo-spatial sketchpad can be divided into?

A
  • A visual cache- storing information about visual items
    > Form and colour
  • An inner scribe which stores the arrangement of objects in the visual field

16
Q

What is the capacity of the episodic buffer?

A

Limited

17
Q

What does the episodic buffer do?

A

Integrates information from the central executive, phonological loop and the visuo-spatial sketchpad

18
Q

What does the episodic buffer maintain?

A

A sense of time sequencing

basically recording events that are happening

19
Q

Where does the episodic buffer send information?

A

Long Term Memory
