What does Albert Ellis propose?
that each of us hold a unique set of assumptions / beliefs about ourselves and our world that serve to guide us through life and determine our reactions to the various situations we encounter
What does Ellis believe about depression?
That it is not a direct result if a negative event but rather is produced by the irrational thoughts triggered by the negative events
What does the ABC stand for?
A - Activating event
B - Belief system
C - Consequence of depressive behaviour
What is the issues with cognitive processes?
The precise role is yet to be determined
It is not clear whether faulty cognitions are a cause of the psychopathology or a consequence of it.
