What is the cause of the War?
The disagreement on slavery and a few other minor arguments.

The belief that the state is the highest truth.

A new type of bullet called the Mini-Ball which flew more accurately and for longer time.

Having a strong defensive position.
What are Ironclads?
Giant metal-coated boats that couldn’t be penetrated.
What were some other new wartime inventions?
Trenches, machine guns, and telegraphs for messages.
What were two huge changes in the war?
The war was a total war and a war of attrition.
What is Total War?
The killing of civilians that could help the enemy.
What is War of Attrition?
The wearing out of the other side’s troops.
What is Fort Sumter?
A large fort on the bay of Charleston.
What did the South do about the Union?
Several southern states left the union and made their own confederacy.
What did Lincoln do to get more soldiers?
He asked all states to supply volunteer soldiers.
What happened in reaction to Lincoln’s plea for soldiers?
Kentucky and Missouri didn’t want to give soldiers and once they were forces to, they wanted to secede.
Who was Robert E. Lee?
A famous military leader who was asked to help with the Union Army but he refused.
What was the difference in Army size between the two armies?
The Union Army was 10x bigger than the Confederate Army in men and had much more in production and resource.
Who was Jefferson Davis?
The first president of the Confederacy.
What was different about the Confederate Constitution?
It was almost the same as the original Constitution, except that the states could decide if they allowed slaves individually and all states were able to leave the Confederacy freely.
What is one common thing between the Confederate and Constitutional Army?
Both armies had heavy worship in them.

A ‘general soldier of God.’
Who was Colonel Frank Taylor?
A soldier who taught a lot to Robert E. Lee.
Who was Stonewall Jackson?
The right-hand man of Robert E. Lee. His real name is Thomas Jackson, he was a great teacher, and he had actually married twice.
