A

A

Santa Anna was a Mexican leader who removed the government to be all-powerful. Texas wanted to leave Mexico, but Santa got angry and started war.

What did President Polk of the US do about the war?

A

He sent troops over to Texas to help fight, but after his men were attacked they declared war on Mexico.

What is thought of that war today?

A

The war is seen as partly Agrarian (they are protecting their homes in Texas) and partly Mercantilist (they want to fight and gain lands). The war is also thought of as cruel and not necessary.

A

An agreement pact that controls lands, it opened up Oregon for free settlement.

A

Many people moved there and there were amazing amounts of resources, but there weren’t many settlements and the existing ones were very far apart.
