A

The two show great signs of brotherhood, goodwill, and being respectful foes. In the stories from the psalms and between the leaders, they would always point out to their enemy what they were doing wrong, etc.

A

He came from Massachussets and had a very ‘Northern’ mindset. He had slaves doing things around his home and he was famously short and fat. In 1765, he famously defended the British soldiers who killed civilians in the Boston Massacre in court.

Where did Thomas Jefferson come from?

A

Jefferson came from the ‘Gentleman’s Class’ of Virginia and there were no slaves there so he did manual labor. He was tall and slender, and while Adams was getting grey hairs from age, he had fiery red hair.

Adams was very outgoing, he tried to correct people’s grammar and liked to get into arguements.
Adams was known as the ‘Atlas of Independence,’ which basically means that he could answer anything you asked correctly.

A

Thomas was very relaxed and calm. He liked talking with people and being social, and he’d only start a debate if he knew he’d win. He was also known for loving his family greatly; he was never away from home for more than three months at a time.

Why did Jefferson and Adams become Enemies?

A

Adams wrote a book about how Presidents should be addressed like Kings. Thomas wrote an anonymous criticism and a publisher posted it with his name on it. Though kind of a petty deal, this made them sour enemies.

A

Adams won in the votes by a little bit and Jefferson became his VP. Once he found out, Adams sent a letter to his wife saying that he didn’t want to take on the responsibility but he could do it.

A

Adams agreed with Thomas to stop arguing, and so they did. What Adams did in the beginning was keeping the same cabinet as Washington did, so there were many people that argued with eachother in the background.

A

Alexander hated Jefferson and caused a lot of trouble. He gave a lot of orders over Adams and did as best as he could to ruin Jefferson’s political party. Because of a lot of the things that Alexander did, Adams lost his followers and only solved one term.

A

Thomas Jefferson tied in vote with Aaron Burr, so Alexander Hamilton casted a vote to let him win. This sounds unlike him, but he hated Aaron more than Jefferson.

A

He lowered 30% of the country’s tax and bought the land of Louissiana from France which doubled the size of the country.

What happened to Jefferson in 1804?

A

Jefferson’s daughter died. Thomas looked for help and friends, him and Adams’s exchanged letters until Jefferson mentioned some of the bad choices that Adams made and they became enemies.

What did Benjamin Rush do several years later?

A

Benjamin started reminding Adams and Thomas of the good things that they said to eachother. In the beginning, Adams didn’t want to speak to Jefferson. But he changed his mind and the two started sending letters and became friends.

A

The two died as great friends on July 4, 1826. They actually died only about 5 hours apart.
