What did John Paul Jones do?
He was a Scottish man from Clan McDuff who joined the American Navy and fought the Britts for an unjust whipping.
What did Marquis de Lafayette do?
He was a French soldier who came to Washington and trained his men on how to be better fighters.
What did Benedict Arnold do?
He was a great hero but he wasn’t getting the money or positions he (thought) he deserved. He sold himself and a fort to the British army for a lot of money and everyone hated him for it.
What did Nathan Hale do?
He was a famous spy against the British, but he was unfortunately found out and executed at a very young age.
What did Ethan Allen do?
Ethan moved to Vermont at a young age and loved the state. He fought the British even though Vermont was its own nation and wasn’t officially in the war. Him and his men captured several forts such as Ticonderoga.
What happened at Saratoga?
This fight was between General Lowe, Horatio Gates, and Benedict Arnold. Horatio was the leading man but he sucked as a leader so Benedict Arnold did most of the work. In the end, the British retreated and more of them died while running away than in the fight itself. This fight showed the American power and other countries formed alliances/
What happened at Valley Forge?
The Continental Army was beaten down and poorly equipped, so they stopped at Valley Forge. A woman spied and overheard the British plans and snuck out to tell Washington about the sneak attack. When the British came, they saw that the Americans were ready.
What happened at Yorktown?
The Britts expected Washington to try to reclaim Yorktown, but he instead went down south. He surround General CornWallace’s army and the French blocked their escape by sea. The Britts surrendered here and this was an important win.
What did George Rogers Clark do?
He was sent by Patrick Henry to the West and is famous for capturing Kaskaskia. He surrounded the fort during a party and no one knew the Americans were there!
Who were some of the ‘Forgotten Founders’ and what did they do?
Peyton Randolph from Virginia trained Patrick Henry, John Hancock fought for better rights, Elias Boudint was an ambassador that made sure that captured American soldiers were treated well, and Cyrus Griffin was Washington’s predecessor of commandship, he worked very hard and was a great asset.
