What did black kettle try to do to resolve the raids?
He tried to reach an agreement with the government. So he set up a camp at sand creek. Believing the whites would protect him. However, the territory governor, John evens requested to ‘kill and destroy’ plain Indians .
What was the consequence of black kettles actions?
In (1864) November 29, civil war hero, chivington led 700 troops to raid camp. Although despite their putting up their white flags to show surrender. They still massacred 130 men, women, children and babies.
They then scalped them
This caused dog soldiers to attack first and kill whites across to Colorado
