Rioters murder Mormon leader, Joseph smith in a prison cell. Forcing them to leave Illinois.

Explain the actions of 1846(reaching Omaha)?
They were to leave in spring, but due to Illinois hostility, they left in February, which caused suffering and slow travel.
Lead to them arriving in June, however they didn’t. Leave until the following spring.
What happened in the Mormons travel to the great salt lake?
(1947) in April. A party of 150 Mormons and young set for the salt lake valley.
- the party was well supplied for a year and had a portable boat. They used th dinner party route and found a suitable route. Set the river crossing along the way
By July the reached the salt lake.
They made it easier for large wagons to travel a clear route from Omaha. By 1869 70,000 Mormons travelled the route.

As farming conditions were good. Disappointed gold miners, found fertile soil, that could grow spring wheat. Farming became profitable.
