Q

What are 4 things that can lead to a corellation.

A
  1. variable 1 causes variable 2
  2. variable 2 causes variable 1
  3. a different variable causes a corellation between variable 1, and variable 2.
  4. corellation is simply by coincidence.

7
Q

explain why corellation isnt always causation.

A
  1. Corellation might happen by pure coincidence.
  2. Maybe another variable causes the corelltion between variable 1, and variable 2.

Q

what are the cons of corellational sudies?

A

if the two variables were to be corellated, we woudnt know anything about the relationship between the variables. It could be causes by coincidence or by a different variable.

Q

What are the pros of case studies?

A

1.The researcher is able to gain alot of information, insight and understanding about the participant(s), because he has alot of time, because he only has one, or a few participants only.

  1. Allow us to study rare situations, which cant be investigated in an experiment.

Q

What are the dissadvantages of case studies?

A
  1. Cant establish cause and effect, becaue we dont have a contorl group.
  2. studying just one persons exprience, might not generalise to other going through the same experience.
  3. since the people studies in case studies are very rare, rsearcher is more likely to post about it, thus breaking the unethical code of conduct, more sepcifically unanimity.
