data presentation Flashcards
what does a frequency graph show?
the distribution, of non-grouped, continuous data.
what do we call the shape of the cyrve on a frequency graph?
distribution of data.
what do we always represent on the y-axis?
frequency count.
what do we always represent on the x-axis?
cntinuous data.
what is a normal distribuion?
a curve that is symmetrical across the middle.
bell like curve.
what is a negative skew?
when data is centred to the right, with a long tail to the left.
What is a positive skew?
when data is centred to the left, with a long tail to the right.
What is a histogram?
Histograms are graphs that represent frequency counts, for continous data, that has been grouped into categories.
what are some of the rules, when drawing histograms?
BARS MUST BE JOINED TOGETHER!
what is the central tendancy?
where the centre of the distribution is located.
What is dispersion?
How spread out the distribution is.
