- Endocrine gland - secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream
- Exocrine gland - secrete hormones through ducts before they reach cells or organs

- Located in the sphenoid bone
- Controls the functions of the other endocrine glands.

- Located in the anterior portion of the neck
- Produces thyroxine

- Produces parathoromone.
