Pharynx or Throat

- A tube that is a common passageway for air and food.

- Muscular tube that takes food from the lower end of the pharynx to the stomach.

- Located posteriorly to the nasal and oral cavity. also functions as an air passage.

- Tube like passageway that extends from the larynx to the bronchi and is found anterior to the esophagus.

-Flap of cartilage laying behind the tongue and in the front of the entrance to the larynx - allows air pass through the larynx to the lungs.

- further subdivision of terminal bronchioles
- at the end of each is an alveolar sac that resembles a cluster of grapes

- Pouches lined with epithelium that are clustered like grapes at the end of each alveolar duct.
- The exchange of respiratory gases between the blood and lungs take place across the alveoli.

-Located on either side of the heart and are enclosed by the rib cage. The left lung has two lobes and the right lung has three lobes.

- Double - Layered membrane that surrounds the lungs.
- Consists of the parietal and visceral pleural.
