The Long Bones

A

Muscular System

– Make up the arms and legs

Components

    • Diaphysis - Long narrow shaft of the bone that has central marrow cavity and two irregular ends.
    • Epiphygis - Hollow cylindrical shaft of the bone.
    • Compact Bone - Hard, thick bone that make up main shaft of the long bone and the outer layer of the various other bones.
    • Spongy Bone - The bone that remains when hard hard bone dissolves.

Muscular System

A

Muscular System

Kinds

  • – Smooth – Involuntary and striated - make up the walls of the hallow body organs as well blood vessels.
    • Skeletal – Voluntary and heavily striated - attached to the bones that aid in movement.
    • Cardiac – Striated and involuntary - make up the walls of the walls of the heart.

Functions
- Movement of skeleton - both appendicular and axial the provision of body shape and posture and the production of heat for the body.
